The righteousness of any individual cannot be determined by the superficial faith activities since it is the work of the Lord in their lives. The word of God says in Jeremiah 17:10; “I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve”. Though they are chosen, they are rewarded accordingly, as they were made righteous by the Lord through their conduct to fulfill the written promises. And now, how God searches a heart in terms of righteousness?
When God created man from the dust He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, which is the spirit of God, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7). God searches every heart by using this same spirit as it is written in Proverbs 20:27; “The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inner depths of his heart”. Bible further explains that God knows the mind of the spirit because the spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God (Romans 8:27). Besides, the spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God, declares the word. It is quite fascinating when bible asks a question in 1 Corinthians 2:11; “who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them?”
Therefore, it is our hearts what our God always desires for. Since our bodies are the temple of the Lord, live righteously obedient to the word of God; just like it is written in Romans 12:1; “In view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship”. In fact, you do not have to struggle to live righteously; instead, the Lord will make you live righteous if (only if) you’re chosen according to his good plan and purpose. Besides, it is not necessary to show our righteousness to anyone but the Lord. The word of God says in Matthew 6:1; “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven”. In other words, the righteousness of God is not limited to, helping others, but living in the word of God. And remember that God knows all our motives and intentions for everything is written in the book of life from the beginning. Again, God will make you righteous in His time – as you’re created in Christ, long time ago, even before the creation of this universe (Ephesians 1:4-5). Amen
