Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them:

The Bible reads in Matthew 18:19-20; “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my father in heaven. For where there is two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”. Have you ever thought about why two or three is needed to establish anything divine as per the bible? It has been noticed even in the Old Testament books that more than one witness is always necessary to establish or settle any matters. In fact, this is the basic principle of Heavens to affirm God’s words and his Sovereign powers since God is represented as Trinity in the form of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Let us examine few words in the Bible, which co-relates the above divine concept of two or three witnesses.
  • Deuteronomy 19:15 - One witness shall not rise against a man concerning any iniquity or any sin that he commits; by the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established
  • 1 Timothy 5:19 - Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses.
  • Hebrews 10:28 - Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
  • Deuteronomy 17:6 - Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness.
Even during the ministry of Jesus Christ on earth, he has done all the miraculous deeds in the sight of many witnesses or at least in the presence of more than one. Also, Jesus said that he came from God, and he did not expect anyone to believe in him, just because he made that claim by himself. Instead, many testified themselves that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; which is the true revelation prompted by the God the father, to prove Jesus is truly the Son of God. This includes John the Baptist and all Jesus’ disciples along with multitudes of believers or followers and even us in these present days as his true saints. When we gather in Jesus’ holy name as his witnesses, God the son has to be present in our midst, to be glorified evidently through our confession and acceptance – a perfect will of God mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 1:12. Besides, we need to be washed as we surely become righteous in the eyes of the Lord, perhaps momentarily for the manifestation of scriptures on a timely fashion – The bible says in James 5:16; “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”.

Therefore, let us be reminded that every single word or concept written in the bible is not included there in vain, since it has a meaning and purpose in the sight of God. Again, when two or three gather in the name of Jesus, there He is in the midst. Those who have ears, let them hear, Amen
