Why do we Christians need to suffer in this world? It is a valid question and we need to figure out its answer from the bible I suppose. For a second thought, the inevitable reason for praying is indescribable among the people of God; it’s quite difficult as well to get a perfect answer to this dilemma unless our senses are totally aligned to the divinity of God.
It is written in 1 Corinthians 11:28-30, NKJV; “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep”. These verses are habitually repeated in the four-walled churches during the ceremony of ‘Holy Communion’ or ‘breaking of the bread’. More than its literal or symbolic meaning, it is explaining essentially how to accept the Lord Jesus Christ in one’s life. The word of God says, if you are not ready or worthy enough, you are not allowed to claim Jesus in your life yet; or it will not happen in your heart at least, as it stays superficially stagnant. Apparently because of this reason bible pleads all the invited to be submissive to God’s holiness in the first place to avoid blasphemy. This simple message is reminding each and every believer that God is light and there is no darkness in him. This concept of readiness is also linked to the verse in Romans 10:9, since the key word mentioned there is ‘to believe’ or ‘to be worthy’. It is imperative for Christians to understand the true meaning of ‘belief’ or ‘faith’ in Jesus Christ, which is the core element to sustain in their Christian life (John 7:38). It is time for all the faithful to examine their hearts before claiming Jesus as their Lord and Savior. To be precise, it is for us to have a deeper understanding rather than the traditional beliefs on the bible as it often calls for mysteries.
The Bible declares that you may suffer like a heathen, since you have mocked the glory of God and its holiness. It is quite dreadful to stand in front of our Lord unworthy since he is worthy and holy. And we might claim that the righteous have many afflictions (Psalms 34:19), as God delivers the faithful. Certainly, our God is faithful and just, only towards those who are called according to his purpose and plan, which He also consecrated very long time ago says the bible (Romans 8:28-30). In other words, the word of God is explaining, how tremendous is the faith of the true saints, as they could easily ignore the colors of this world while embracing the love of God. To a deeper knowledge, God delivers his people even from that very thought of afflictions – which are not the ideas of having the real afflictions and then getting healed from it. As born-again Christians we are invited to that holiness, not to stay in the darkness, but in true light not being weak or sick. Amen.
