What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose their soul? A reasonable and logic question that bible puts forward to anyone who believes in eternal life (Mark 8:36). These words of wisdom speak about the double-bonus and at the same time the double-loss if neglected the grace in its natural occurrences as a gift. Fearfully as it appears, people often ignore the seriousness of saving or losing their own lives with regards to the godly-faith. It is written in Mark 8:35, 37-38 (NIV-Bible); “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” – Quite a warning to someone who pretends to be a believer and yet immersed in the follies of this world!
The Bible declares that we are saved to do good things; not to remain same as before. Also, it reminds the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. Besides, there is no privileged good thing on earth other than trusting and obeying the word of God – confirmed by the prophets and godly men from the very beginning. The word of God says in Titus 3:3-7, NIV-Bible; “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”
As true believers in Christ, we are called to teach and demonstrate righteous things to others while being obedient ever. And consider that God's forgiveness is a blessing, and at the same time a gift; but the continuous sinning is a curse while claiming righteousness in the sight of the Lord. Therefore, for those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves, in doing what is good. And be reminded, these things are excellent and profitable for everyone, as per the bible. Amen
