The minds are renewed

When we are born again, our minds are renewed and we become a new creation in Christ, says the Bible. What is the whole idea behind renewing our minds? The mind is defined as a cognitive sensor which facilitates consciousness, perception, emotions and memory to the bearer. Precisely, mind is the heart and soul of a man. According to the bible, since we’re created for a purpose, we are obliged to do God’s will through His son Jesus Christ, and we’re destined to abide in his love. Besides, understanding God’s will and purpose through His words is great wisdom – whereas it is written in Romans 12:2; “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Obviously, the holiness and righteousness cannot be achieved without the help of God. In a sense, true saints are equipped with the love of God that persuades the obedience mentioned in the bible inevitably. It is written in Ephesians 4:21-24; “when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Though the bible says that you didn’t choose God, but God chose you and appointed you (John 15:16), it makes very good sense that you are given a mind to accept God, instead of you trying hard to acknowledge God.

Therefore, understand that the decree on obedience in the bible is final and cannot be compared or replaced by any man-made principles in this world. The Bible says in John 15:14; “If you love me, keep my commands”. Also, it says that we are given a heart of flesh – the scriptures read (Ezekiel 36:26-27); “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws”. In simple words, for those who are chosen, there are no efforts needed, since their minds are naturally renewed to accept the Lord and to obey his decrees without fail. Amen
