Appraisal on righteousness that earned through Law and Faith:

“Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.” (Romans 10:4, NIV-Bible)

Most Christians were mystified with the term ‘righteousness’, I suppose, while they shriveled understanding as well certain biblical verses that assert the ultimate faith and righteousness is only through the belief in Jesus Christ. And to the contrary, the Old Testament bible speaks about this same righteousness facilitated to the Israelites through the Law and obedience with various ritual patterns. So, is the righteousness earned by the Law is better than from the faith? Perhaps, it is our responsibility as the saints of the Lord, to come into the realization of righteousness in our Christian life, through whatever ways we choose to understand its application.

It has been recorded in the Bible that the people who does things by the law will live by them – and it’s absolutely necessary for them to receive its consequences, whether good or bad. But the righteousness that is by faith says: The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart – that is, if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Quite easy as it said in Romans 10:9; “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believes in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – But mind you, it comes with a clause which often forgotten by most preachers and believers. The bible says that the righteousness earned through the faith, by mere declaration, teaches the bearer to be obedient to the word of God till the end. It is written in Titus 2:12-13, NIV-Bible; “Righteousness teach us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

So, what’s the difference between the righteousness of the Law and of the faith? In both ways, the obedience is so necessary to receive the salvation and glory of the Lord. It is not as simple as many thought and preached in the past, and even in the present, to attain all the mentioned bible-promises – yet, it is quite possible, I guess, as it is inflicted on to the elect as they were predestined very long time ago in Christ (recorded in Ephesians 1:3-5). Besides, it is written that the call and touch of the Lord is very essential to embrace the faith in Jesus (John 6:44). Amen
