Lord’s Purpose That Prevails

It appears that believers need a bit of correction with regards to their petitions. Having various thoughts of subsistence and advancements, anyone could wish anything in their heart – but the fact is, unless those desires are matching with God’s purpose, nothing apparently happens except more waiting and frustrations on its way. I believe it’s more appropriate to leave those desires to God to work on His ways and time, instead of asking things according to our ways and expectations. It is written in Proverbs 19:21; “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”. As a matter of fact, trusting in the bible promises is quite encouraging while it brings hope to the faithful – and yet, unless given or submitted to the Lord completely in unison, asking repeatedly without enough faith seems unnatural in terms of His precepts.

The word of God says in John 16:24; “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete”. Quite a declaration of the bible that leaves most of the believers in confusion! Are they not asking enough or they do not ask the right things in the appropriate ways? The bible says, ask and you will receive. But the fact is – if our requests are not in tune with the given promises of the Lord, nothing is going to happen. Since we are the chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and God’s special possession, as the Bible declares, we may wait patiently for the works of the Lord in our lives. Besides, as true saints, how could we ask worldly things if we truly possess the mind of Christ, which is then confirmed in 1 Corinthians 2:16? In a sense, the word of God is encouraging all the true believers to ask wisdom and understanding from the Lord – that He has promised as well to give anyone who asked (James 1:5) – which is the key for all the good things on this earth, I suppose.

Therefore, learn the principles of the bible and its given promises, for not to be waiting longer in receiving; instead set our minds on the Lord as we speak the word, while practicing righteousness day after day. And, for our dreams and the needs, trust and obey in the word of God (Matthew 6:33). Amen
