Surprisingly, in this new covenant of faith, there are fewer things believers do not want to hear, even though their faith-practices are quite inadequate in compliance with the word of God! The listings of negative results in life are numerous, and they’re basically the consequences of disobedience, which I anticipate – some may disagree on this, as they believe and drag unnecessarily the concept of God’s unfathomed love and forgiveness, where the renewal of the mind is required in the first place. In a sense, we want God to be static in His ever loving nature – constantly forgiving the sins, even though we repeat them again and again – thoughtful to our busy and vigorous needs which demands no time for Him. But, it’s a formidable Christian faith that kills the very essence and truth of God’s righteousness, I say!
It is written in Zechariah 7:13, NIV-Bible; “When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Though written for the people of Israel in the Old Testament bible, every story in the holy-book conveys a message to everyone who believes, I guess. On the other hand, what logic when you’re least bothered listening to the word of God and feverishly then demand the deliverance? Is it not appropriate when God says “no” to your plea momentarily as He induces his spirit of repentance beforehand in order to cleanse you? In fact, genuine repentance has been a gift from God just like His outpouring grace – as it produces great fruits of obedience which makes you worthy standing in front of Him. Besides, some may negate this idea by saying it is all from the Old Testament, and there is no condemnation in the New Covenant faith – But I shout, the decrees of the Lord in terms of righteousness and unrighteousness remained the same, ever since He is a God of the past, present and future.
Therefore, surrender completely to the Lord and test Him with your obedient spirit and see how sweet and gentle He is to you. Amen
