Understanding the Providence of God

The bible speaks in Psalm 23, “Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want”. Why the psalmist said I shall not want? Thinking logically, one could easily come up with an answer – that if everything needed is supplied, why would someone want? The true Christian life is similar to that; when a believer, trust in God and expect the provisions as promised, he or she definitely receives what is needed on a daily basis. Yet, some believers struggle in life to meet the both ends. Perhaps, they have ignored the difference between the need and want, as they jeopardize their needful life in search of countless ‘wants’.

“Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want” – though perfect and peaceful as it sounds, the condition for receiving God’s providence is stated plain and simple – which is to make Him, your Lord and shepherd evermore. And this is what we have learned from the bible; start to finish – the sovereignty of the Lord on all his creations! It is written in Matthew 6:33; “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, then all things that are needed will be given to you.” In other words, give the Lord the priority in your life and everything goes smoothly right straight in your eyes.

Apparently, the quest for truth was an ongoing subject ever on this earth beginning from the days of Adam and Eve. And as we grow older, I suppose, we settle down since the truth makes us weaker. And the real truth is, we are the dust, to be returned to the dust someday – as it is written in Psalm 103:13-14; “As a father has compassion on his children, the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” Once again, as we recognize our meekness on this earth, fear God as He is our creator, created for a purpose in Christ – to worship Him alone. For a deeper understanding, our souls were created long time ago, as we are now transiting here on earth, much more as a learning ground, getting ready for the millennium events ahead of time in the eternal bliss along with the Lord – which bible stated as well by declaring that our citizenship in heaven (Philippians 3:20).

Therefore, be gentle and easy as we trust in the Lord for everything in this world! The word of God says in Matthew 6:25-27, NIV-Bible; “do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” – blink your eyes, and set your mind, to live and die for Him! Amen
