The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer:

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior— from violent people you save me. “(2 Samuel 22:2-3)

David sang to the Lord those words above when the Lord delivered him from the hands of his enemies, and especially from the hand of Saul. Looking back to the bible stories and even to the present days, it can be observed that people, with few exceptions, come closer to the Lord with thanksgiving and praise only when encountered with certain difficulties in life. Surprisingly, in these last days, even after numerous instances of such great survival similar to the past bible stories, people never learn yet as they fall victims often, blaming both the devil and our infamous weak bodies. Though the bible keeps reminding about the protection of God through His righteousness, many still rebel against God, never wanting to learn, submit or obey His statutes. It is written that if you do not turn left or right from the Lord, you will be successful and prosperous anywhere you go or whatever you do (Joshua 1:7).

Furthermore, the inspirational words of David in 2 Samuel 23: 2-5 teaches the central-wisdom of being closer to the Lord as you’re chosen by Him – as it reads; “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: When one rules over people in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth. If my house were not right with God, surely he would not have made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part; surely he would not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire.”

Therefore, engrave these words in our hearts “Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer” – not to forget, but to be remembered on each and every moment of our lives. Amen
